Open Call for Applications: Art-icon Exhibition "Faces" in Arles 2025

Art-icon, a non-profit organization supporting emerging talents in the visual arts, invites photographers and artists to participate in the upcoming exhibition “Faces” in Arles, France. The aim of the project is to showcase strong and original portrait-based works that reflect new perspectives in contemporary photography, from both emerging and established voices.

Exhibition Overview

The "Faces" exhibition will take place in a highly visible public location in the very center of Arles during the opening week of the Arles Photography Festival, one of the most important and internationally recognized photography events in the world. The festival draws 25,000–30,000 professionals annually, including collectors, curators, gallerists, and critics, ensuring maximum exposure for participating artists.

The exhibition will feature large-scale photographic portraits, printed at a minimum height of 2 meters, each accompanied by a QR code linking directly to information about the author and the work.

The display will include:
‍
- portraits of internationally known public figures,
- as well as frontal portraits and headshots submitted through this open call.

Participation & Submission Guidelines

Who can apply:

‍Photographers and artists of any background, age, or experience level. Submissions must focus on frontal portraits or headshots.

Technical requirements:

- Vertical orientation, with a 4.5:6 ratio
- The face must be clearly visible, well-lit, and unobstructed
- The head must not be cropped — the composition should resemble a passport-style photo

What to submit:

Up to 6 low-resolution images attached directly to the email (do not use file transfer services such as WeTransfer or Google Drive).
